This week, in What’s Happening in Brazil, we take a look at how new variants of the novel coronavirus are wreaking havoc on Brazil’s healthcare system, both public and private. Possessing higher transmission rates and causing more serious infections, these novelty strains are overloading hospitals and pushing healthcare workers to the brink.

In our Culture Talk segment, we will introduce you to the life and work of Brazilian playwright Augusto Boal, who would have turned 90 on March 16ht of this year. His contributions to the Brazilian Cultural Resistance Movement against the military dictatorship installed in 1964, are immeasurable, and his techniques and legacy are alive and flourishing till this very day.

In our Brazilianism segment, we will wrap things up with a delicious local recipe and with a Brazilian soundtrack with deep African roots. Enjoy the show!
