The work of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's government (Workers' Party) is approved by 56% of those interviewed in the Genial/Quaest survey, released this Wednesday (21), while 40% showed disapproval. The share of respondents who did not know or did not answer was 4%.

In the survey carried out in April, 51% showed approval, 42% expressed disapproval and 6% did not know or did not respond. In February, 56% of participants approved, 28% disapproved and 16% did not know or did not respond.

The increase from 51% to 56% between April and June, in relation to the approval of the work carried out by the Lula government, is due to the improvement in the positive perception of the economy, according to Felipe Nunes, director of Quaest and professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG).

“Although this improvement has occurred in all social strata, the improvement among Bolsonaro voters is noteworthy. In this segment, approval increased from 14% to 22%. The evaluation indicator helps to understand the dynamics of this approval increase. While the positive rating has remained stable, the regular rating has grown from 29% to 32%. That is, the improvement in approval came from a public that considers the government to be regular”, Nunes posted on his Twitter profile.

“In comparative terms, Lula 3 is better evaluated than Bolsonaro, FHC 2 and Dilma 2, but worse than Dilma 1, Lula 2, Lula 1 and FHC 1. These are new times for the relationship between governments and the electorate. 30% rejection seems to be the new normal."
