This week, in What’s happening in Brazil, we talk about the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency’s rejection of imports of Sputnik V, the vaccine against COVID-19 produced by the Russian Institute Gamaleya. While Anvisa attributed the ban to safety and health concerns, the Russian manufacturer affirmed that the decision is “of a political nature”.

We also debate the continued use of drugs without proven effectiveness against the disease, distributed in the so-called “COVID kit”, as chloroquine is now first on the list of medications that caused side effects in 2020. Still on the pandemic, the show reports that the number of deaths by COVID-19 in the country in 2021 has surpassed the total amount of 2020.
